Thanks: Gave 36, Got 15 | Wiring up LED lights
Hi.
I have bought from Makro a strip of blue led lights with a control box fitted to make them flash etc.
From the picture, does anyone know which wires to splice together to bypass the control box to simply have them on constantly lit?
Also, can I break them if I just do trial and error until it works?
The two wires on the right are the live and negative from the plug/transformer.
Thanks for any help,
Ted.

It would appear not, but according to the back on the box in your pic - Option 8 is steady on - so why not just use that option and leave the box alone.
Have you a separate led driver or is the box performing that function as will.

When I set it to steady on it's fine until I switch it off and then it resets itself to function 1.
I am assuming that there is live/neutral into the box and live/neutral out and the third one out controlls the flashing etc.
Basically, can I blow all the led lights by connecting them by trial and error?
Ted.

Not my field, but if you have mains going in then the box is acting as a driver as well in which case you could just blow everyihng.

To get the lights to stay on, you will have to open the controller box. The lights look exactly like ones I modded last month. The three wires leading to the lights are 2 positive, and one negative, they are run from two transistors just below the controller chip . You will need to make a solder bridge to bypass the controller chip, and put the lights to constantly on.
Let me know if you want some photos.

If you could post pictures, that would be great as I know nothing of electronics.
Here are a couple of pics after I mutilated the control box earlier today.
Many thanks,
Ted.

OK, I have circled the two areas where you need to solder together the two pins. This will basically create a constant circuit, bypassing the transistors and the control chip. I have added a shot of mine, this should give you an idea of what you need to do. My board looks slightly different to yours, but the functionality is exactly the same. The voltage coming into the device is 24v, IIRC, there is only about 6v going out onto the LED string.
Any problems, let me know.

Moderator | Cheers.
They were quite cheap and is worth a try.
I know what you are saying though.
Ted.
