Fridge Freezer issues - help!

Hi all.

Ok, power on, light on in fridge part.

Totally defrosted though. It's a frost free Beko.

No noise from compressor.

Any ideas?

Re: Fridge Freezer issues - help!

Has the door dropped because of weight of stuff in the in the door shelves, and isn't quite pushing the door-closed switch enough?

Happened to us. Xmas day too.

A £50 organic turkey replaced with a Bernard Matthews half-frozen turkey joint. Yum.

Edit: Oh yeah, it could be the thermostat too. Usually cheap to replace. Do a google. Fixed our fridge for a tenner or so.

Smile Re: Fridge Freezer issues - help!

Our fridge-freeezer was playing silly buggers last week too. Over the weekend when it was quite hot the fridge temp (there is an lcd display that shows fridge and freezer temps) went up to 10 degC and the freezer went up to -10degC (usually -20).

After investations it seems to be the fridge door not closing/sealing properly!

It seems to be working fine now (much to DW's disgust as she wanted a new American style fridge-freezer)

Re: Fridge Freezer issues - help!

Or it could just be the fact it is a Beko?! Several years ago I had a Beko washing machine of which the weight fell of the bottom, (after 13 months ) obviously after speaking to their customer service it turned out it was nothing to do with them. (also had a 21" tv from them: No better)

I just cut my losses & decided never to buy that brand again.

Re: Fridge Freezer issues - help!

It was the thermostat. I've bypassed it now to get it working again until I can get a new one delivered.

How do you bypass the thermostat ? I've just got home from a week away to find the fridge light is on but it's warm inside

Re: Fridge Freezer issues - help!

Kieron: Do you have a time switch you can plug it into so it comes on for half an hour, then off for half an hour? If you run the compressor permanently you could damage it and that would not be easy to fix. With a bit of fiddling you can work out the best on/off ratio to keep it running at a suitable temperature.

John: The mains supply to the compressor is interupted by the thermostat. If you route the mains direct to the compressor it will run permanently, assuming it was the thermostat at fault (it usually is). The usual caveats of don't try this unless you know what you are doing apply to anything involving mains electricity...
