Hotpoint washing machine drum loose?

Hi
we've got a Hotpoint WMA34 washing machine which is a few years old now. On final spin the drum is making an almighty banging noise, enough to shake the powder dispenser draw open.

I've had a look, taken the top off and looked inside from underneath and cant see anything broken, loose or disconnected. The drum has a lot of backwards/forwards movement, it can touch the inside of the machine body either way.

We realise the machine may not be worth repairing but we're not able to buy a new machine just yet.

PS there seems to be no metal spider to hold the drum, the drum is encased in a nylon cover?

Is there any up and down play between the inner and outer drum? If there is then the bearings are shot.
If there is no play and the movement is purely the outer drum then check the pins that hold the suspension legs to the drum haven't fallen out, they are only plastic and sometimes work loose. Also check the suspension legs themselves and both concrete weights.
