Combi boiler problem

Hi all does anyone have any ideas when it comes to combi boilers? I have a Ideal Isar boiler fitted which is not working at the moment which means i have no hot water or heating.

It says a fault code L F which says it has something to do with the condense pipe.

Any ideas?

Some info here:

Ideal ISAR 35 HE condensing combi boiler Review in Boilers at Review Centre

If at any point you decide to replace the whole boiler I would advise paying a bit extra and get Worcester-Bosch or Vaillant boiler as these tend to be more reliable.

The government grant scheme EAGA generally just fit Ideal boilers, although I think there is an option to pay extra for another model.

Re: Combi boiler problem

Cheers for that. I can not even afford to get it fixed so buying a new one at the moment is a bit of a problem.

Just hope it is something daft like a blocked pipe if not then its going to be a cold Christmas

Re: Combi boiler problem

The condensate pipe is the white plastic pipe that runs from the bottom of the boiler to a drain or outside.

Check with who supplies you with gas, depending who you are with, some of them do discounted fixed price repairs.

Re: Combi boiler problem

Check page 53 of the user guide. Here's a link if you haven't got it.

There's a flow chart which should help you decide what is exactly wrong.

If it is the condensate pipe Page 38 (item 49) tells you how to clean it and page 44 (item 64) how to replace it.

Good luck.

Re: Combi boiler problem

We have an Ideal condensing boiler ...let it go too long between services and the condensate trap got full, and got the same error codes

that would be my first thing to check - as above links, its just a case of emptying/cleaning out the trap

you should have steam (condensation) coming out of the vent outside when its running, as soon as you are not seeing that you are going to have probs with it cutting out

could/should be a simple job to take the cover off, remove and empty the trap and replace

Ive since been having mine serviced yearly - £40 with local heating engineer ...and from what I can tell the dont do much more other than lift the covers, empty the trap, check a few measurements and give it a bit of a clean .......

Re: Combi boiler problem

These are really **** boilers. Switch it off wait a few mins switch ot back on. they are prone to problems.

I had nightmares with a he24 and now have a diverter valve problem.

Do you get a lot of business spamming forums on threads 2 years old ? - does that make people want to come to your company, doesnt for me. Makes you seem desperate and hence suggests you are not to be recommended maybe ?
