New fridge/freezer oddity

I had one delivered last week and it's been running for a few days now.

Having given it time to settle down I've discovered that using the highest thermostat setting to keep the fridge temp correct results in the freezer being close to -30ºC which is way too cold! Could easily result in food suffering freezer burn, which does it not good at all.

Is there any way to adjust the balance between the two, or should I be looking at sending it back?

Re: New fridge/freezer oddity

What do you mean, the highest thermostat setting? The higher the number, the colder it gets.

About a third of the way up the scale is usually ample.

Please state make and model. On digital displays when you press + which you would think is turning the freezer temp highter ( to cool it is actually turning the temp up to warm it) kinda the opersite of what you actually want.
Hotpoints have that

What temperature do you consider to be correct for the fridge?

That's what I would hope for. It's a BEKO with a manual stat setting. I started it at 5 (0-6) and gradually backed it down over a couple of days to 3.5. Earlier today it was 8º in the fridge and -26º in the freezer.

The balance is all wrong.

Re: New fridge/freezer oddity

mines set at 3 for the fridge and -16 for the freezer. ideal settings are -18 for the freezer and 3 for the fridge. i have mine set at -16 because I'm tight and it saves some electric this way

Re: New fridge/freezer oddity

Ok ,I think what the OP is getting at is that there is only one thermostat control for fridge and freezer combined and that to have the fridge at say 3 c means that the freezer is too cold.

I would send it back as unfit for purpose.

Re: New fridge/freezer oddity

Have you checked the blower between the freezer and fridge. I had one go out which had the same symptoms you're seeing.
