Washing Machine walking!

We have a Hotpoint Aquarius Extra thats lately got into a habit of "walking" out of its space when on the spin cycle. Once up to speed it really does start to go crazy and makes a fair old racket.

I've checked the feet to ensure that its level and that seems to be perfect, no sign of imbalance. I'm wondering if it could be anything to do with the bearings on the drum itself, if so how easy is it to look and see the problem and fix it?

Re: Washing Machine walking!

What surface do you have it on. You can buy "pads" which slip under the feet and stick to the floor ( used on loaminate and tiled) and this will stop the bugger from doing his rounds.

I had the same problem with my LG when he was on his final spin he would do a walkies round the kitchen and land in the middle. I got 2 pads from a friend who works for a photocopy repair company and they use themt o stop their photocopying machines from moving.

Re: Washing Machine walking!

cheers for replies, well some of them lol!

Transit bolts are all out, machine has been in place for about 5 years, its on laminate flooring and i've had it out from under the worktop, its totally utterly level, no play in it at all.

I was going to open it up but it's not looking as easy as first though, could really do with a service manual of some sort to see what the process is. I'm think it could be worn drum mounts which I should hopefully be able to spot easily once I get inside the thing!

Re: Washing Machine walking!

Try reading through this at the UKwhitegoods forum.

(I have no affiliation at all with this site, but it has given me few really good pointers in the past)

Soundproofing a washing machine

I have bought one of these , works great but is an expensive solution to the problem. recommended though.

Sounds like a bizarre Sean Penn film...

Re: Washing Machine walking!

it's probably a worn bearing or belt or something that is causing it to spin slightly off centre, hence the wobble causing it to walk around.

Probably easily fixed by some sort of service....
