Does anyone have one of these new LG washing machines?

LG Washing Machines - Large Appliances - Marks & Spencer Appliances

I would be interested in anyones experiences of an LG washing machine.

I'm looking to maybe buy a LG 8Kg Direct Drive F1447TD

Re: Anyone got an LG Direct Drive washing machine?

Yeah, I do. I'm very happy with it for the most part..

The only thing that gets slightly annoying with it is the 'Unbalanced Load' feature. The machine will stop just before the spin cycle if it detects an unbalanced load. It'll sound an alarm and you'll need to pull out whatever is in there and try to re-arrange it into a more balanced load. Only really happens with larger items like duvet covers and sheets, and even then, only when you overload (Duvet cover, sheet, mattress protector and all of the pillow slips at once)

I think they may be a little longer (depth) than you usual machine as well, at least thats the case with my 8Kg one.

Nip into Comet or something if you want to have a look..

S.

Re: Anyone got an LG Direct Drive washing machine?

I had one too, for just over five years. Absolutely great - I get annoyed by the noise of washing machines, and this is about as quiet as you can get. They wash great also - I would recommend getting the extended guarantee however for piece of mind, as they can be expensive to fix if things go wrong. Very well built otherwise though, and in practice there is actually less to actually go arong in the first place. Thoroughly recommended overall.

Re: Anyone got an LG Direct Drive washing machine?

We have had an 8KG LG dirrect drive for a couple of years, pretty pleased. Really quiet, in fact i can now sit in the kitchen and not even realise its on. Spin is still quite loud though, but less than normal washers.

Re: Anyone got an LG Direct Drive washing machine?

I like the look of this washing machine too.
Unfortunately, when it comes to LG I'm always a little put off by the fact it stands for 'Lucky Goldstar'.
I remember their products when they were just 'Goldstar', and they really were cheap tat.
In fact, I seem to remember they were the cheap brand linked to Comet/Currys/Dixons in the 80's, like Matsui are now.
I'd like to think they've moved on?

Re: Anyone got an LG Direct Drive washing machine?

I've got one of the earlier DD machines, when they were 7kg loads rather then 8kg. I've had it for about 7 or 8 years, and only had one problem that needed a call-out (pump impellor got blocked as I recall). It's been a great machine for me, nice and quiet. I'd agree with ScottGTO about the unbalanced load thing, and the door on mine has become a little more difficult to shut over the years, but it only needs to be lifted a little as you shut it so I guess I must have bent the hinge out of true at some time. My parents had one too (later generation but still 7kg) and that's still going strong in my sister's house. Another LG DD will certainly be on the shortlist as and when it finally needs replacing.

Re: Anyone got an LG Direct Drive washing machine?

had a 7kg one for 2 years now , gets hammered a lot and there is only the 2 of us lol, cant fault it at all and the best bit is its very very quiet, our bedroom is only 10/12 feet from the kitchen and can have it on during the night and it doesnt stop us getting to sleep ,we get the out of balance thing maybe once every 2 months, i dont see that as a fault i see it as a protection measure, if its out of balance and spinning at 1200rpm thats not going to do the drum bearings any good is it? think what its like when a car wheel is out of balance at speed.

I had a hover (i did not like, it was noisy) i have had a dyson ( to fat) not to mention ugly! Apprt from the spin cycle program not working correctly it is great. I have to add it was fixed and the wife has not said anything. The machine is actually quite good. When it is on the full spin makes a cool noise like the subs i fit in cars

Re: Anyone got an LG Direct Drive washing machine?

I've got one of these earlier model LG direct drive machines.

Overall it works quite well but as we live in a hard water area the amount of soap scum that builds up over time is quite high. We've had the engineer about 6 times in 5 years to fix things like broken pump (a screw in the wash punctured the membrane), replace the paddles (coin between the inner and outer drum) etc .. .. .. but then we use our machine a lot. Luckily we took out the insurance .. .. .. I negotiated on the price so I paid £100 for 5 years cover .. .. .. so it's been a bargain! The policy has expired now and so when the machine dies again we will buy a new one .. .. .. probably another LG direct drive with a new 5 year insurance policy.

Re: Anyone got an LG Direct Drive washing machine?

For anyone that bought an extended warranty:

Where did you buy one from?

I've ordered my washing machine (LG 8Kg Direct Drive F1447TD)
http://www.marksandspencer-appliance...fication=false
from M&S and it arrives tomorrow. M&S don't seem to offer an extended warranty that I can see though?
Should it not be covered under the Sale of Goods Act for up to 6 years anyway?
*The motor has a 10 year warranty, but the rest of the machine only has a 2 year warranty.
