Question Fridge Freezer

Looking for a black, American style fridge freezer. Must have cold water/ice dispenser at the front. I've found this Daewoo one for £600. Anyone know of anything better at a similar price?

Re: Fridge Freezer

We've got a black LG one - think it's one of these (although we didn't pay that much). Very happy with it - the ice machine is in the door so you still get shelves all the way up the freezer

Re: Fridge Freezer

I have that exact model (Daewoo) and would recommend it. Plenty of fridge space and although with the ice/water dispenser, you still get adequate freezer space, unless you live off ready/frozen meals.

The sides aren't mirrored finish so much less likely to get scratched. I think the main benefit if the Daewoo though is the filter is physically seperate from the unit, so you could put it under the floor or behind the sink etc which saves depth.

Do you mean the filter that is on the back can be moved then? Because I've done some reading and the only complaint is that it sticks out a bit from the wall.

The back of my fridge is completely flush, nothing protruding. The filter connects into mains water, then you have a 5mm tube from the filter to a tiny entry hole at the back of the fridge. The tube they provide is massive hence you can pretty much put the filter wherever.

From the others i've seen, the filter clips on at the back-top, whereas my one is a (what looks like) oversized syringe that has mounts to fix to a wall, independant of the fridge.

Maybe my model is slightly different (picture looks identical). Will check when I get home.

Re: Fridge Freezer

We have looked at the American syle *** with the door mounted ice/water dispensers and always think that it takes up too much of the freezer space inside.

indeed. That's why I recommended the LG - the ice machine is in the door rather than the shelving space.

Doing a bit of looking around I've actually found the RHS1NBBP for £650. Seems very nice and looks much nicer. Can get it for £650 and will probably go for that. The only problem is that the house won't be built until mid Sept and I have no idea where to put it until then!

Re: Fridge Freezer

hold fire then, iv got one in gloss black, in the majority of homes, to get it in the first time u have to unclip the doors off the actual fridge, then re-attach and connect up the water line for water/ice....can be a right pain if u intend to just store it..... store it where?

i bought mine the week it was released in 2008 with an rrp of a grand for £680 delivered.... so it shouldnt be too much bother to buy when ur really ready....

nice one

Sounds good. I was just worried it would be unavailable for when I move. I may see if I can order it and leave it in my dad's garage, covered with something.

How easy is it to connect it up to the mains water for the ice maker/water cooler? I think I may see if the builders can set the kitchen up so it's all ready.
