Re: DVI to TV help

Thanks,

Ok, so it could be difficult to get HD DVD or Blueray from my PC to my TV.

Say I just wanted to watch other 720p footage (HD Sopranos or Deadwood, which I just watch on my monitor at the moment).

I could get the video out with a DVI to HDMI cable, or a VGA to VGA cable. What about the sound - what kind of cable do I need?

(PS - why would someone look like an idiot for asking if a cable can be HDMI compliant? Where I come from, knowing about cables is a non-essential character trait.)

Re: DVI to TV help

If your watching it on your monitor now then just use the same connection to connect to your lcd tv but anything will work ( vga or dvi ) because its not encrypted, for the sound just go from the soundcard output to your tv input with a 3.5 mm jack plug to 3.5mm jack plug. jobs a good one

Thanks for the response. Been watching 720p shows on my monitor for ages now, can't wait to see them on a 37inch lcd.

cheers,

You are are missing the point. A cable is not HDCP and just whether the equipment is on the each end is. It is just a cable with wires in it.

Or, if you have some kind of surround-sound processor, you could take the digital output from your PC's soundcard and feed it into the processor for decoding.
