Which is best?Panasonic v Samsung

I would appreciate any advice on this.
I am looking to buy a HD TV up to 40inch max. Currently I am debating the Panasonic TH37PX70 and the Samsung LE40M87BD.
Styling wise I do preffer the Samsung, but price favours the Panasonic. The main thing I am unsure of is whether the 1080p panel of the Samsung is worth the extra investment. I will be getting Sky HD and a HD/B.Ray player at a later date, but I sit around 10-feet from the screen and have heard this distance with teh screen size I am looking at means the differences between 1080p & 720p would be negligible.
Has anyone any thoughts on this, or which TV they regard as better.

On that size screen I don't think you will notice much difference between 1080p and 720p to be honest ( unless you sit really close lol ). I think you should really decide between plasma and lcd, I own both ( see sig ) and the lcd is fantastic for gaming and pc but plasma wins hands down for a more cinematic look when viewing films. I await a lambasting from the fanboys lol

I'd have to agree with oldnewbie re LCD vs. Plasma.

In terms of resolution then at 3m your not going to notice much if any difference between the 1920x1080 and the 1280x720 pixel Display - though with 1080i and 1080p Sources you will see less processing artifacts on the 1920x1080 Display.

Lol, And there's me thinking I would of started a whole lcd is far better than plasma at displaying films war, you learn something new everyday Have to agree about the dreaded artifacts aswell
