Should i have to wait this long for a repair? Is there a length of time when i can request a replacement LCD? It has been a week since the LCD was taken to the workshop.

Legally a repair should take no longer as to cause you significant inconvenience. The fact that they've loaned you a set means that for the moment this wouldn't be classed as a significant inconvenience. I would say 1 month would be the limit, no more.
