How long should I wait for repair?

Got a Toshiba 47wlt66 tv 5 months ago.It has got the black screen of death as reported elsewhere in this forum. Toshiba were informed and have since sent out a LOCAL engineer to fix the problem. He has taken the LCD away and loaned me a 20" crt. His diagnosis of the fault was that a board had failed and would be ordered from Toshiba. In his words "If they take as long as Sony then it could be up to a month"
Should i have to wait this long for a repair? Is there a length of time when i can request a replacement LCD? It has been a week since the LCD was taken to the workshop.

Thanks Madjimbo

Legally a repair should take no longer as to cause you significant inconvenience. The fact that they've loaned you a set means that for the moment this wouldn't be classed as a significant inconvenience. I would say 1 month would be the limit, no more.

Re: How long should I wait for repair?

I was going to ring customer services on monday to see what they have to say. A spare part on a new tv should take no longer than a week to come from taiwan or where ever they make them surely. I would like to know what my consumer right are as it does give me a little ammo to fire at the toshiba staff.
