Help Me Please!!!

SORRY FOR MY IGNORANCE ON THIS ISSUE BUT I'M A NEWBIE WHEN IT COMES TO PLASMA OR LCD'S SO I'M LOOKING TO THE PEOPLE THAT KNOW.......YOU LOT!!!

FIRSTLY I HAVE A BUDGET OF AROUND £1500
SECOND I HAVE A XBOX 360 AND PLAY FOR LONG PERIODS
THIRD I HAVE KIDS
FINALLY I INTEND TO MOUNT IT OVER A FIRE.

AS THERE ARE SO MANY OUT THERE THAT ALL LOOK GOOD BUT I HAVENT A CLUE.

ONE THING I HAVE HEARD MENTIONED ABOUT PLASMA'S IS THAT YOU CAN EXPERIANCE SCREEN BURN WHICH DOES PUT ME OFF A LITTLE...SHOULD IT??

I HAVE BEEN BROWSING THE RETAILERS TODAY AND HAVE SEEN WHAT I BELEIEVE IS A GOOD SYSTEM: PANASONIC TH42PX60WAL, THIS IS WITHIN MY PRICE RANGE AND BY ALL ACCOUNTS REVIEWS WELL.

THE OTHER ONES THAT WERE INTRODUCED TO ME BY THE SHOP ASASISTNAT WERE SEVERAL IN THE SONY RANGE ONE OF THEM BEING 1080P SPEC..WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THESE??

YOUR GUIDENCE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED AS I DO NOT WISH TO BLOW MY CASH ON A PIECE OF JUNK.

CHEERS

Re: Help Me Please!!!

Hi,
Welcome to the Forum - Firstly, just a little pointer "YOU DON'T NEED TO SHOUT!".....

Capitals are generally regarded as bad manners, literally the Cyberspace equivalent of shouting......

Re: your question, I was in the same situation as you, after much deliberation I plumped for a 42" Lcd Toshiba - higher resolution than the plasma's, no screen burn issues, less power consumption generally and lighter to wall mount.

I've had mine over the fire for some months with no probs.

Also, if you intend to connect a PC, then I found the lcd's higher screen resolution was a bonus playing computer games, web browsing etc..Plus the latest lcd's have gone up to 1920 by 1080p displays which the latest Xbox upgrade supports.

I would try a post in the lcd and plasma sections for reccomendations, generally in lcd the Sony's, Sharp's and Tosh's all get fair reviews.

Plasma seem to be Panasonic and Pioneer favourites.

Hope this helps,
