Re: Couple of questions regarding Resulutions and scaling.
Ok loaded question that can produce disagreement.
My answers:
1. Probably not much, does depend on the quality of the internal scalers and personal preference
2. It should if it is native 1080i, particularly if it is film based material and the deinterlacer is good quality. If it is upscaled then it's entirely dependent on screen/scaler quality. Good deinterlacing of film material should make interlaced versus progressive redudant however many cheap internal scalers/deinterlacers just aren't that good.
3. Again if it's native 1080i and the deinterlacer is good it should be better. With film material a good deinterlacer should take the 1080i feed deinterlace to 1080p 24/25hz and display as 1080p using 3:2, 2:2 frame repition etc.
If your only 1080/720 sources are upscaled DVD then there are to many variables in the sclaers/screen etc to guarantee the 1080 screen will look better. However if you have sky HD then the 1080 screen should give a better picture and the picture should absolutely be better once you get a 1080 source from HD-DVD or Blu-Ray.
