where to get HD content for streaming?

i'm looking to get a media player for streaming hd films/programs from PC to my hd tv. i dont have sky hd at the moment.

my question is - is there a simple way of getting HD content onto the pc in the first place?

can you legally download films off the internet? if hd films are about 50 gig in size that'll take me weeks!

otherwise, is it as simple as ripping a bought HD-DVD onto the pc and streaming that?

i've found clips and trailers on windows and skys website, but ive seen people talking about gladiator BEV(??), T2 etc etc

i need to unleash the full potential of my set!

Plenty of sources can't really discuss on here. All I can say is use google !

Btw more like best part of a day for 50GB not weeks with a decent 8 meg or more connection

People use usenet/newsgroups for downloading HD material, however not much of it is legit, and finding legal stuff is quite hard.

There are a few showcasing WMV HD. A couple that spring to mind are the microsoft website and the Mariposa website which uses bit torrent. Before I got SKY HD I found a link to some Korean/Japanese HD sites but I dont have it any more. Do a search for 1280 x 720 on Yahoo/Google and look at the Video results...e.g.

if you have a 360 and MCE2005 pc/lappy.

go to mininova.org and search for 720p. lots of stuff there, file sizes for HD content is mahooosive.

its pretty hard to find legal stuff, movies ive seen are typically 15 gig in size, not 50 btw
