Please help with HDMI-DVI connectivity

Hi,

I have a Samsung LE32A41B LCD screen and currently have a (quite old now) Tosh SD330 DVD player hooked up via RGB scart. The picture is good but I can't help but wonder if I am taking advantage of the best PQ that this screen can offer. The reviews for this screen advise that pics via the HDCP-enabled DVI jack are second-to-none.

So, I started wondering if I would be better able to take advantage of the DVI
input by replacing my DVD player with a new model with relevant output. However, I cannot find any DVD players with DVI output sockets, so am I correct in saying that I could buy a player with HDMI socket (like a Tosh SD360E) and then just buy a lead such as the following:

http://www.kenable.co.uk/product_inf...ea8f31f2c0850e

Am I likely to notice an improvement of PQ?

Hope someone can help...any advice much appreciated!

Many thanks,
Dave

Re: Please help with HDMI-DVI connectivity

hi,

many thanks for the suggestion but that is over my budget :-(

i have two Tosh SD330E DVD players...one upstairs and one downstairs, so I was hoping to replace them both in one fell swoop, which meant that players such as the Tosh SD360E (with HDMI) at around £70 was the kinda budget i had in mind. Having said that, my budget isn't iron-clad and i am open to suggestions!

Re: Please help with HDMI-DVI connectivity

i've kinda narrowed my search for replacement DVD palyers to the following:

TOSH SD360E
PIONEER DV490
SAMSUNG HD860

feedback on these machines would be much appreciated but, most of all, i wanna know if i am gonna see an improvement in PQ if hooking up to the DVI socket on my screen (see first post)
