Samsung Connection problem

I have a Samsung LE40R73BD TV & a Samsung HT-Q20 Digital Home Cinema System. I have connected my SKY HD box using the HDMI lead, no problem there. I have coneected the Home Cinema DVD player using a Componet Video Cable as recomended by Samsung, but when I select the Video I get a message stating "No SourceAvailable". If I use normal AV leads everything is fine. I've rung Samsung helpline - no help. Any ideas please.

Re: Samsung Connection problem

I tried to tell the DVD to use component output, but I can't find how to do it. I've checked the manual for both devices, to no avail. I've emailed Samsung, as of now, no reply. Any further ideas please?

Re: Samsung Connection problem

2 checks you can make. Connect the yellow video out from DVD to green component in. Do you see a black and white picture when you select component or YUV on the TV?
If not, connect the Green component output to yellow video in on the TV. Do you see a black and white picture now?
If neither of these work, something is faulty or you are not selecting the correct video input. If G gives a b/w picture, connect correctly including the other 2, you are fixed, you just need to find the component input, it's not called 'video'!!
The 1st one is the check that you are on the right input, and that it works. Try all the inputs to see where the picture is if you don't see it where you expect.

The place to look for component output on the DVD is usually in the initial setup, install, something like that menu. Often you have to turn off RGB scart to get it to work.

Hello Mr D

i think i have the answer if you have not already found it,
my brother in law bought the same home cine system and had the same problem, he took it back to currys thinking it was faulty, i went round and had a look, the answer is with the remote that comes with it, you have to hold down thep.scan button for 5 seconds to activate it, it should be fine after that, let me know

regards

gary
