26" LCD HD....DELL W2600...Evesham..27" LCD TV....Samsung..LE26R51BD..

Hi People

Thanks for all the help on my last post guys....so I'm gonna hold on till the Summer and see what happens....as you said its not worth rushing into this if your'e spending up to £2500 on a living room LCD TV....

OK

New Topic.......

At the moment I am looking at replacing my PC monitor which is .....Hitachi CM802ET 21" CRT (.21mm) monitor (£950 back in 1998)...MY GFX Card has a DVI which i would prefer to use

I have gone for a HD LCD/TV 26".....and it will mostly be used for Office/Internet use on my PC....and watching the occasional TV/film..

Now I have 3 Contenders

(A) Dell W2600 LCD TV....HD..26".....25ms (typical)..85 degrees.....£599........Its got all the connections (DVI)...and has a good clear screen...but i've heard that this LCD displays only 15:9 ...not 16:9, and that some people reported that the screen comes out all dark when connected to a Xbox 360....But i'm not connecting any consoles to it....It only has 1,280x768........Will this be ok for PC Use

(B) Evesham 27" LCD HD....£499...16ms...170 degress.....NO DVI In...just D-Sub connecter...1280X768.

(C)..Samsung....26" LE26R51BD...1360x768...HDMI

OK..........

I would like people opinions..as I really i'm puzzled over which one to go for...I like the Dell because I have a Dell Notebook with a Ultrasharp screen and its Awesome...The 26" version has only 25ms response time and 15:9 aspect ratio....But has DVI in...........The Evesham..specs look good..cheaper..bigger screen 170..and 16ms...But It has no DVI..only D-Sub...which is not as good as DVI and is the company any good...Samsung....has only HDMI..is a cheap company compared to DELL..
Can Some-one help out

ZACK

For the same price as the dell you could get the samsung (after precerunner50off offer at dixons), the BD version has a lower response time, a HDCP enabled HDMI port and built in freeview (the vanilla B version does not have freeview and about £40 cheaper).

The other advantage of a HDMI monitor with HDCP is if you intend to upgrade to windows VISTA and a HDMI/HDCP graphics card in the future, this monitor will allow you to watch HD content as VISTA requires HDCP enabled hardware.

Ultimately the choice is yours :D

Go for the Samsung. It rocks as a PC monitor. It's also won a number of magazine awards for best LCD TV in it's category.

It has both HDMI and VGA (D-Sub) inputs, although VGA is the one to use for now (1:1 pixel mapping). Response time is excellent and both gaming and HD clips look fantastic.

Check the LCD forum for plenty more info / opinions on this set.

Thanks for the replys guys

I am gonna go for the Samsung....26" LE26R51BD....the reason I am not going for the 32" is that i saw it today in PC WORLD.....and its TOO BIG, as I am only going to be sitting Half a Meter from the screen doing my work on it...is 26" OK

also is HDMI better than DVI

And are LCD monitors better on the Eyes than CRT

Yes they are, unlike CRT there is no refresh thus no flickering that can cause strain on the eyes and also in extreme cases cause fits in epileptic's
