I assume you mean HD content on a DVD disk?

If so then there are a few DVD's that carry a WMV encoded movie which can be played by a PC. The German Amazon site carries them as well as the US one.

thanks Starburst, I was just wondering if any dvd's could be played through a dvd player and shown in HD, if one had an HD ready telly. I had read that some programmes in the US are filmed in HD so wondered if dvd's of films or US tv series were available to buy in HD.

Sorry if this doesn't make any sense!

It doesnt really mater if they were filmed in HD or not it may give it a cleaner picture ie. no film grain but no real advantage for dvd given it is downsampled to dvd resolution anyway. The only way to play true HD content is from a PC for now

what about Comet etc? when you go in there they always have a sample hd disk playing on a tv to show what it will be like, to help sell hd ready tv's - pictures look amazing. surely these arent being played through a PC? Just wondering really

The US have had hi-def broadcasts since '98 but aside from a few D-Theater (digital VHS) titles and the WMV-HD discs mentioned there's no legal way to obtain any of the stuff shown in HD so everyone ends up getting it illegaly. The whole Blu-Ray/HD-DVD thing is a mess and should have been sorted long ago.
