computer connection to samsung 32" hd lcd tv

hi
hope somebody can advise me, here goes. i have a 19" lcd monitor and am connected with dvi out from my graphics card which also as a vga port.. my resolution is 1280x1024 at refresh rate 60 hz ...i am looking to connect to my samsung 32" lcd hd tv mainly to watch downloaded movies or to play the odd game i was just going to connect a vga cable as my tv is nearby,,, the tv as hdmi connection {which is aready hooked up to a toshiba hd dvd player} also as vga and video connections .... is this possible or any other advice about this and cables needed i would be grateful.. dont want to use the tv as a desktop just want to switch displays .......sorry if it sounds stupid new to this ,thanks in advance

If you use the VGA input on your Samsung LCD you'll need additional cables for the audio side.
If your HDMI input supports VGA you could, I suppose use it but this would require analogue to digital conversion via a special (could be expensive) converter box which would also require audio inputs from the PC. DVI to HDMI conversion can be done with a simpler converter cable - but again you'll need separate audio leads from the PC to the LCD TV.
You should also check whether or not the TV's DVI input can handle the resolution and frame rate that the PC graphics card is producing.
VGA + audio looks easiest to me.

cheers for the reply, i think i will use the vga input , can you use the computer sound {as i have surround sound and is close by the tv} so if i get you right , i need a vga cable and i can switch displays on computer to watch tv via vga, then switch back to dvi to the desktop computer.. thanks
