Wink Sky+ HD 10th October at Ideal Home Expo

I was walking down Bromley High Street on Saturday and I was accosted by a Sky Salesman in one of their demo vans.

I said "I already had it and was waiting for the the HD box"

and he told me "we are taking orders for it now and will be out within a month."

I said to him "I don't think so" in which he replied "why is it already on our contracts" which he showed me a contract which had which service - Sky HD or Sky +!

It cost £399 and they are apparently demoing it at the expo next month in Olympia.

I personally think he is bull***tting, and although I can vouch that it is on the new contracts, someone else here would now about it before me .

in that case I'll stop avoiding the sky blokes in the shopping centre.

BTW, is the Comet leaflet the same thing as signing up on the sky HD website? What is there to do that is more concrete?

Well for what its worth I had sky + installed and the standard confirmatory letter made reference to HD Sky as well as sky +

Guess sky are really gearing up for an imminent launch, although £400 for the box is way too high!

I can't believe people are still bitching about the price of the box.

If you think £400 is too much for the Sky HD box, then you're not an early adopter, and you've no place in the UK HD market at its launch.

Leave it 5 years and then buy a HD box for £49.

I paid £600 for my TiVo....way before that I paid £1000 for a Panasonic NV-F100 SVHS VCR....and before that £600 for a Panasonic NV-F70 VHS machine.

That price-point put into context means the asking price for a Sky HD box, (with the extended feature set),.....is an absolute bargain.

I too think that a HD PVR at £400 is not bad, I have a Free To Air HD digi sat box on order (DSR 9005) without PVR at £265....so Sky+HD seems OK at that level. Mind you, if they sell it at £300 I'm not arguing.

If you had Sky+ installed at launch it would've cost you £400 plus installation.

bragging about the amount of money you've wasted .....me too me too...I paid £600 for a Nicam stereo VCR....£1k for one of the first prologic amps £300 for a xbox on launch only for m$ to drop it by £100 a few weeks later. ...and to top it off I paid £23k for one of the first Alfa GTV's in the country only for it to be worth £9k 3 years later. I can't wait to throw some money sky's way as well bring it on....

Ive been after Sky+ for a while, might be tempted to go for Sky HD as Sky+ is included, I just wonder wether the wife will let me spend £400 on it, after spending money on new plasma and xbox360.

Has a few pages on upcoming HD and mentions the Sky box. Murdoch Jr has hinted £200-300 as a price point for the box.

£199 with no extra subscription if you are already a full package subscriber and available in time for Christmas....too much to ask!

To be honest I'd pay £400 for the box IF it has a sufficiently large enough hard drive (500gb+ minimum, if not 1000gb - this would be 127 hrs of HD) and there was no additional subscription if you have premuim channels.
