HD v DVD Example

There seem to be lots of questions as to just how good HD may be and what it will look like when compared against a good DVD transfer, for example.

Don't know if this has been posted on this forum before, but the link below might give some idea of the difference.

PS. I don't pretend to even start to understand the techy side as to how these images were created or even if what was done to them allows a fair comparison, so guess I will just have to take on it trust for now ! Interesting though !

Nice web page, it does a good job of comparing HD to DVD. Considering he's downsized the HD pictures, the full size ones will look even better!

It's not really surprising that HD->Jpeg->480p is better than DVD->Jpeg->480p, since the artefacting would affect the lower resolution frame a lot more.

Seeing the difference without the jpeg step would be interesting.
