Hd/sd Dvd

Hi guys, do you think new HD dvd players will be able to play standard definition dvd's as well as current players ? Reason I ask is im wondering whether its worth having my Denon A11 modded for sdi and buy a scaler from Gordon to go with my Optoma H78 . And when HD comes out buy a new player to go along side it .

I think it would be sheer stupidity for manufacturers to not make HD players backward compatable with DVD so wouldn't worry about that fact.

I know they will be backwards compatible , but that doesnt mean they will be as good with standard definition disks as current players are .
