It would allow me to view a picture I cannot see otherwise seems quite useful to me. BUT the fact these products only work in some instances is a little more worrying, even more worrying is they cold be dactivated at a later date.
A CRT user with HD and two of these boxes......

HDCP is pointles in my opinion.
Its just a way for companies like Sony and hollywood to gain controll over intelectual property that they seem to have been loosing due to DVD players becoming MR with ease recently and with people like that guy who broke the DVD copy protection system which enabled anyone to copy DVDs on a PC.
No doubt there will be an easy and effective way around HDCP once these players come out. Personaly I dont really mind it coz my Plasma is HDCP. But if I ever want to use VGA or Compnent due to lack of HDCP conections then I will do somethig about it.
Blame the TV makers for only giving our $5000 TV's ONE HDMI-DVI-D conection!!

If the only way of getting the HD material you want is from an HDCP source, and you use a CRT projector, then no.
They also do an HDCP decoder that outputs in DVI. You chose.

bottom line - the pirates wont care about quality - they'll use one of these to rip off an HD transmission or Blue-Ray disk and sell the copy as HD.
The only thing it will stop is timeshifting and kids handing out copies in the playground, (well until they are over about 10 years old).
So youre bang on the nail - HDCP is a complete and utter waste of time, (ours) and money, (again ours!).  |

Nick I can't get that device working with HD HDMI sources and HD Leeza. (and I mean HD not upscaled)

I have an HD Leeza feeding a G70 and was hoping that one of these devices would enable me to watch HDCP content. Do you know why it is not working with the Leeza?
