PDP-504HDE - is it HD Ready ?

I know that in January Pioneer stated in their press release http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/content/press/EICTA05.html that this model was HD Ready but although it supports 720p I did not think it supported 1080i and I thought it had to support both formats to be truly 'HD Ready' ??

If I'm being a twit I'll happily take the abuse as I have been off the forum since I bought my panel back in December 2003 hence I am already beginning to eye a newer model which is HD singing and dancin ready.

Cheers

Simon

The native resolution of the 504 is 1280 x 768 so no problemo with 1080i.

What is the new model you have been eying? A friend of mine has just ordered the 506, which looked pretty good. In fact I was tempted to go for it myself as I doubt the wife would notice (apart from the different media box).

Just so there is no confusion screen resolution 1280 x 768 has nothing to do with whether a TV can accept a 1080i signal at 50/60 hz.

Thanks for re-assuring me. It’s nice to know I don’t have to rush into buying a new panel. I think I’ll wait until the SKY HD STB actually arrives and then see what is available. I’m really happy with my 504 but a HD panel with a higher res would be tempting and least 3 HDMI inputs.
