Toshiba ep30 and sony HTSF-1200 sound help

I am need of some help.
When I play my hd-dvds through this system onto my tv the sound works fine but when I plug it into my projector no sound appears from any of the speakers. Any reason what causes this?

It works fine with my ps3 and sky but not the hd-dvd player.
