Hi-Fi advice needed on new setup

Here is my situation:

My ears seem to be getting better with age, i hear a lot more of the music I listen to now and I wish to get a new Hi-Fi so i can appreciate this. Having got fed up with CD changing in my current Hi-Fi (technics all in one job) I switched them to Flac. on the PC. So any Hi-Fi will need to be hooked up to the PC.

The budget is £1000 for all i need though can be shifted a little more upwards if absolutely necessary. I will need speakers as well. Cheers for any advice guys and gals. Headphones might also be an idea though i suspect they can cost just as much as speakers, so might need to wait on that purchase.
