Help for new member please.

Hi there folks.

Very recently i had a accident with my 500 series of sony components. CD player.Amp.Twin cassete deck.Tuner and record player.

The system is around 8 years old and is now completely beyond repair. I disposed of the items and claimed from my house insurance who are willing to replace all the components but they need the series numbers from each component before they can process the claim and as i no longer have them im struggling to find the numbers for a system of that age. All the items where bought in Britain.

Can anyone help me on this?

The most recent series numbers are no good as they dont tie in with a product code(on there database) of products of around that age.

Any help would be fantastic.

Thanks in advance

Re: Help for new member please.

I'm not entirely sure how anyone is going to be able to help you with this,as any serial numbers that could be found would not be relevant to your actual items, even if close.

In retrospect it's easy to say that you should have checked with the insurance company as to their requirements before disposing of the items, but I would assume any chance of recovering them is also long gone.

Do you have ANY proof of their ownership(receipts, pictures etc) that may be of help in proving that you owned them to the insurance company?

Thanks for the reply. The insurance company have agreed to replace the items but they need some form of referance for the items. All i basically need is the series numbers for the components of around that age. Even if these are not identical to the ones i had at least they will have a base to work from.

I just want a replacement system that is similar to the one i had. So i just need some series numbers for products from the 500 range of around that age.

Understand your comments on receipts etc but this option is a non starter for me.

Re: Help for new member please.

have you tried phoning Sony to find out?

i would imagine their own archives would contain model numbers and pictures, they could send you a bunch of links or emails so you can find the ones that are yours.....you mention 500 model, that might narrow it down for them....

also what are these units? full size individual separates? (ie each with own mains plug), midi size separates (like Teac and Denon do), lifestyle units?...any info like that might help either Sony or someone on here help you out......also did they have any acronyms for sound processing etc? like C.M.S.S or A.A.C.C.S etc.....

Re: Help for new member please.

ok, looking for tape decks in the Sony website support centre, i've found a German manual for this model

TC-WE505

http://pdf.crse.com/manuals/3810716511.pdf

or the english manual for the TC-WE525

http://pdf.crse.com/manuals/3862714111.pdf

the PDF's have basic line drawing images, not actual photos sadly....but you should be able to recognise if this is what you owned

if so you should be able to find the other equipments model numbers, just go to this link to search for previous model manuals (as you can see from the PDF's the two i show you are from mid-late 1990's)

Once again thanks for your help and for taking some of your time to help me on this.

New system arrived today All the latest gear including digital tuner and a 800 series AV receiver as the insurance company could not source a replacement for my Sony music amp

Got my new Panasonic LCD tv to go with it so just need to save for some good interconnects.

Once again thanks for the help as without the info i would still be without my music.
