Which of these DACs would be best.

Hi there

Looking at the two of these DACs anyone give an idea as to which one may be best looking at the specs alone.

Just received this one today and I am truly astonished of the difference it makes!

http://www.diykits.com.hk/dac.html

It also is more future proof as its modular design allows swapping of the dac board (and does look nice )

What's the price for Europe?

Are you using for CDs?

I think from that last link you are talking about the Zhaolu 2.0 with CS-4398 - at current exchange rates modded by Eddie with black-gates and posted to the uk works out at around GBP160-170 I think. Email eddie (the address on the web site) for a quote in USD.

I have been considering the same one versus Musical Fidelity X-DACv3. The other forum where headphone-heads rave on about the Zhaolu seems to be mainly Americans who don't mention MF products. The latter is obviusly more expensive at GBP400 or so for an ex-demo model but the plus is to have to opportunity to demo before you buy. Anyone here got any intelligent comments about how the Zhaolu is likely to compare? Seems from reviews that the MF X-DACv3 needs an upgraded power supply to get full potential so works out much more expensive.

Yep, that's the one!
List price is 109 us$ for the basic version (AD 1852) and I paid 70 us$ for the shipment.
Add to that the import tax and VAT and I have gotten myself a beautiful piece of equipment for about 200 euro's.

Falp,

Yes, I exclusively use it for CD reproduction and it really does make a night and day difference (I involved the family in the listening tests and they all preferred the dynamics of the sound throught the DAC)

Can't compare with any other DAC though.
