Replacement Turntable - Project Debut 3?

Hi

My old Dual CS 505-4 has died on me, it lifts off of records before they end. I can't see anything on it to adjust and cannot find anyone local who is willing to repair it. So I need to find a replacement for it. It sounded fine to me plugged into my Yamaha AX-592 amp, and as I don't listen to vinyl too often I don't want to spend a lot of money on a replacement.

I have seen a Project Debut 3 on Richer Sounds site for less than £130. Would this be as good as my old Dual? Also will it come with a cartridge or do I need to budget extra for this?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I have not heard your previous turntable and therefore cannot offer you any form of comparison, but countless members on here (including myself) have plenty of praise for the Pro-Ject.

There is nothing fancy or convenient about it, it does not lift off of records at the end, it doesn't have a nice button to change the speed, all very much manually operated...

A bit of set up is also required and I warn the manual is not what one would call jargon-free. Worth the patience, however.

The Ortofon OM5E cartridge is supplied, along with a Pro-Ject tone-arm. All that is required is a suitable MM phono stage to sit between the turntable and your amp (unless your amp has one built in) and you are off!

A cracking deck for the money - I use the older Debut II through a Rotel RQ-970 MM/MC phono stage and the result is a stunning vinyl setup for the money (IMHO).
