Arcam CD72 - Cambridge 640Azur or Shengya CD-02

Hi there,

Looking through ebay you can get the above for about £150.

Any firm views on which one would be best.

I will be looking to feed this through :-

Music Angel EL34 Tube amp ( I know the some views on these but it sounds great )

Celestion Impact 40s

The Arcam and Azur all have excellent reviews but having tried the china Amps with positive results I'm not so reluctant anymore to play safe.

many thanks
Neil.

Hi neil.

i can't really comment on the other CD players you listed but i won a Arcam CD72. i got it second hand from these forums last week. prior to the Arcam i owned a Myryad Z110. i have to say i am really please and happy with the Arcam, the sound really is fantastic . it so sharp. bass so well defined, i love it, although the build is not as good as the Arcam, i was quite shocked at this because i really did expect the Arcam to be of a high build spec. Don't get me wrong its not a poor build either but compared to some of the competition at the same price the build isn't great, sound wise you can't fault. i really am pleased with it
