upgrade /DAC advise

system at the moment is audiolab 8000a ,marantz cd5400,b+w 601s2 , ive been toying with the idea of getting a DAC ,something like a meridian 203, would this be a worthwhile upgrade using the out on the marantz cd player? or would i just be better off selling the marantz and opting for something better cd wise? ,the meridians ive seen usually go for around the £100 mark and i know i'll not get any better cd wise for that price,in truth i know nothing about DACS but wonder if one will be a worthwhile cheap upgrade (plus i can plug the dvd player in).

I've just sold my Meridian 203 and would rate it as being on par with a CDP upto around £500 in cost.
Have to say that I think a good NOS DAC will outperform it fairly easily.
