New cd player

I am looking to replace my current cd player for something newer as i feel maybe that it is time to upgrade something in my 6 year old setup.

I have

sony cdpxe900e cd player
Marantze pm66se ki signature amp
mission 773e speakers
qed silver anniversary bi wire speaker cable
van den hul interconnects (cant remeber what they are)

I was thinking of the cambridge audio 640c cd player, Will this match the the rest of my system? Are there any other cd players people can recommend? I mainly listen to rock music along with some hip hop.

Firstly, why upgrade at all given what you have sounds OK to you? But if you must, I note you have a fairly good Marantz amp - why not try out their latest KI CDP? One hopes that Marantz equipment is complementary.
But this is only one of a million possible answers to your question. Replace the CDP and then find the speakers sound strange and the quest continues. How did you choose your current/existing items?

Hi, thanks for the reply, i must say after much thought and discussion with my brother, that i went ahead and bought the cambridge audio 640c v2 cdp and i am very happy with it.

While i liked the sound of my old cdp i can now clearly see what it lacked. With the cambridge cdp i have gained some real weight behind my system which i always felt it lacked before, along with more clarity and sparkle. And while i thought that i would want to upgrade my system further, i think that i do not need to anymore as it now sounds much more lively. I am quiet amazed at the difference in sound changing the cdp has made.
