Yamaha M170 Micro System Aerial Question

Hi all

Ive just bought the M170 system from this form (cheers LH) and my question is this the system came with a AM aerial (coat hanger looking!!) & a push on FM aerial.

Is the push on aerial used for DAB aerial also, its just that the connection for DAB aerial has a screw on thread were as the FM aerial pushes on ??????

Any help from M170 owners would be gratefully recieved.

Cheers
Jason

I got three aerials with mine (DAB, FM & AM). The DAB one has a pin in the centre to fit the F-type connector, rather than the cylinder shaped one on the FM aerial (technical description, I know!), and just pushes on.

Just out of interest, will your unit keep the correct time? Mine won't and this is the 2nd one I've had with the identical problem. It will jump from between 1-12 hours, even in use. I noticed the other night the time displayed 24:20. It took 6 weeks to get it changed, too - that's when buying off of the internet falls down.

Cheers

Rich

hi mr burns to be honest ive only powered it on once to test it but im having some building work done so ive packed it away so cant help with the time problem, but will let you know.

the aerial thing has got me confused i do have a push on aerial that splits into like a t-junction??? are you saying the dab has a solid pin in the centre & the fm aerial has a hollow cylinder in the middle?

thanks
jason

Yes that's it exactly. The FM aerial is a single wire and the DAB aerial is 2 wires joined together out of the connector that split into a T-shape at the other end.

Thanks Mr Burns, it seems that i do have the DAB aerial its the FM one i havent got!

It confused me that the DAB connection was quite loose & the connection into the unit was screw thread.

Ill get back to you regards the clock hopefully it will be ok, are you happy with yours?

cheers
Jason

Apart from the unit occupying some other time dimension, I'm impressed with it - good sound (I'm not really an audiophile) and build quality, nice shiny black speakers too but I'm paranoid about scratching them. Did you get yours with the Yamaha speakers? I found it a bit awkward to programme the radio stations into memory, had to re-read the manual. Slight niggle is that when it's in Standby, the display switches off completely. I use it in the bedroom and it would be nice if the time stayed on (I use it as an alarm too which is why not keeping the correct time is such a big deal).
