Question which Amp?

i think this is the right place to post this? anyways i went to the Smart Home Show today in Brum (NEC) (tickets kindly provided by VEX) and seen a wicked and when i say wicked i mean wicked Linn Amp, its the NEW CLASSIK MOVIE, it was all set up to a Plasma and had some speakers (not sure what make but i think they were Artcoustic) and this seperate huge remote (like a Nextbase hand held dvd player sort of) the guy was telling for that set up not including the huge remote and the Hard Drive would be about £8500 (was cheaper than what i thought but was way out our price range) ive had a look on a certain auction site to see what i could get, anyways i come across a couple of Linn CLASSIK Movie DI's for around the £1000 (i know this is the older CLASSIK) but seems to still pack a punch, but again still abit much in price!

Could anyone suggest any other Amps that would do the same as the Linn CLASSIK Movie DI, ive seen a few on ebay like Denon, Pioneer, Yamaha, etc, etc. I would like it to have a remote that will control everything that i will have connected to it (Pio 436XDE, Xbox 360, Sky, Pio DVD Surround) and also would like to get some speakers like the Artcoustic ones that were there (look wicked as they look like pictures on the wall)

Any suggestions from anybody would be much appreciated

Cheers

Sean

Hello sean_numark

Your post is looking a bit lonely

The Classik Movie is a combined DVD/CD player, AM/FM Tuner and Multi channel power amplifier - in terms of performance the big Japanese manufacturers don't really have anything comparable as the budget 'all-in-one' systems don't get anywhere near the performance of the LINN kit.

I guess you saw the NEW sleek chassis Classik Movie so yes it may be worth hunting down a second hand original 'square' chassis Classik Movie (or Movie DI) - try contacting a few LINN stores to see if folk are trading in Old for New.

NEW http://www.linn.co.uk/classik_movie/

OLD http://www.avrev.com/equip/linnclassikmovie/index.html

Best regards

Joe

I don’t normally prompt Naim kit, but I think they have stolen a march on Linn’s Classik with their new n-VI device :
