Smile Your views on Audiolab 8200CDQ + 8200P pairing

Hi,

I'm hoping a few here have either got or have auditioned the 8200CDQ + 8200P pairing and can let me know their thoughts.

I auditioned the 8200CDQ and really enjoyed it but the vendor didn't have an 8200P available to dem.

Previously I had an 8000S and loved the sound but that has gone to pastures new.

I'll be partnering it with B&W CDM7's but hope in the not to distant furture toi get a pair Martin Logan ESL's (blew me away when auditioned)

Cheers for any info

The 8200P will be a bit more capable than your old 8000S, so you should like it, and should drive your B&W's fine. I would recommend the 8200CDQ/8200P combination over the 8200CD/8200A combination.

Would the same recommendation hold for the 8200DQ/8200P?

This would be driving Dynaudio Excite X12?

Ta!

Further to the above, if you don't need HT bypass or CD playback the MDac may be the best option. Although the last I heard the MDac was supposed to be getting an upgrade module to allow HT bypass, unsure if it's been released yet.

I am also looking at this upgrade going back to stereo. I will probably buy the power amp first in order to run it in tandem with the avr until I can afford the cdq.

Is the cost of the new 8200P justified over running a second hand 8000P (warranty excepted)? Is it much better paired?

If you can pick em up used (8000p or 8000m) go with that since the price has more than doubled with the 'new' versions.

Don't forget the previous models from the new Audiolab's return were silly cheap, so the newer, way better built 8200's did seem to go up a lot. Much better though.

If you're looking at the original Audiolab's, bear in mind that those from the 80's may need certain parts replaced to being them up to spec, depending how much they've been used.

So you're saying go for a later UK made 8000P in good nick or a new 8200P.

Are the reliability issues surrounding later non-UK Audiolab generally fixed?
