Marantz PM6004 / CD6004 fascia matching ?

Hello ,

i have the marantz CD 6004 which i think is great in all respects , im hoping to buy the marantz PM6004 anytime soon , both silver

im abit fussy when it comes to the appearance of my AV / hifi gear , looking at the fascia on my cd6004 the front panel looks more ' plastic ' rather than metal , ive just looked at various pictures on google of both units and the amp does look more ' metal ' than the cd player .

if someone on here has both units in silver could you please tell me if the amp and cd are matching . Thanks Trev

I had the cd5003 and if i remember rightly, its the middle part with the deplay and buttons is metal and the ends are plastic.

I can double check that with UD7006 i have when i get home.

Although i reckon it be the same as the cd5003, you can give your cd6004 a tap with your finger nail, the sound should tell whether it plastic or not. The PM6004 will be same.

The front panel is aluminium with glass reinforced resin (quote from music direct). It comes in black or silver.

thanks for the replies

in the past i had a marantz SR4500 receiver , that was definately a metal front panel , like brushed aluminium , that looked lovely , however my CD6004 is certainly not this ,

looking at MARANTZ UK website , both the amp and cdp have 'metal front panel' so i hope they will look the same ....cheers

Would you say this gives an audible improvement over bog-standard finish options?

Pride of ownership takes varying forms. Perhaps aesthetics are not an overriding factor for most but I suspect it's still a fairly significant one.

Evelyn "Champagne" King on vinyl played through a Champagne coloured 80s Marantz amp, not sure about the TT yet, but definitely a Roksan Shiraz cartridge.

Definitely 80's era. Remember her and the Champagne kit well. I didn't think Marantz did any other colour back then as all the marantz stuff i saw was in Champagne. It gave it that air of prestigeness.

Can't stand the drink personally, but loved Evelyn.

Had a distaste for 'Champagne Evelyn' but loved Bollinger back in the day.

Hi, just got the Marantz KI Pearl Lite with the CD 6004 combination to replace my 20year old Bose system as I cannot bring with me. Currently driving a TSi 100. Need help to recommend a pair of speakers that would not break by already strained bank. I am having it in my living which is 5 x 6 meters with door on one end and dining on the other. The longer side has a door to bedroom and the has a 1.5meter window. I listen more to new age like CUSCO; Mannheim and Steamrollers, light pop and rock like Led Zeps occasionally.

Hope to get some feedback on the 3 choices of speakers: Polk RTi A7, Mission Mission M35i and Wharfedale Diamond 10.5. The PM Pearl Lite has onlt 70w/c, which of the 3 will match it best.

Hi

It will be hard to find someone who actually compared all 3 speakers with your choice of amp. You probably get one or the other and even then it's their own view of the kit they've bought which will be subjective . So the only real way to find out is to try and arrange a demo with your amp. Whether that be home or at a hifi dealer but only your ears can tell you what is good to you.

Thanks Don
I am in a area where audition is almost impossible. All these hifi gears are to be paid and ordered. Available speakers are Wharfedale but on the lower range and AE which I am not familiar. I am new to hifi and purchase through what I read or from recommendations. Any suggestions for speakers for the Pearl Lite?

I hear that and its a crying shame that theres not many hifi dealers around with demo rooms.

My views on ae is bias towards them so may not be the best person to comment but these are Great speakers which are seriously underated. Those who have or heard them think as i do.
You have to spend a lot more to better them.

Until a couple of months ago i was running a marantz pm7001ki and ae neo 3 for few years and loved what i was hearing. Handled everything i threw at them with aplomb. i now run an xtz d3 amp with them and the marantz with neo 1's.

I am considering upgrading the neo 3 but to better them i am looking 1k speakers, namely xtz 99.36 or others on that level.

The only thing i can say is give the neo 3/4 and aelite range a try with the Pearl lite and see what u think. Also have a look at xtz 99.xx ranges. They do home demos and if u like they will send u a new pair. If not send them back and just pay postage.

Thanks Don, I will give the AELite a check out when I get into town, but will give the XTZ99 a pass as the reviews all say it needs a big room and a trial is not possible as I am in Vietnam (very close to the China border, rather remote area). I cannot find a Epos dealer here in my area so my choices are limited. Thanks again for your feedback.

It hasn't got one of those plastic films on it to prevent scratching in transit?
