| XLR to RCA cable, or Y splitter RCA to hook 2 pieces to source?
My CD player has one pair of balanced XLR and one pair of unbalanced RCA outputs. My RCA is hooked to my preamp, as no XLR on the preamp. I would like to hook the player also to a headphone amp that I have, and which has RCA input only. I would not like to affect the sound quality reaching the preamp, as this is my priority . Am I better using Y RCA connector to split the CDP output, or using those XLR to RCA cables ? I have a third option, which is to use the tape loop of the preamp and send the out to the headphone amp, but I'm reluctant to do it, as that will involve more signal processing from the preamp being sent to the headphone amp, and then being processed again. Thanks.
