I am finding it difficult to understand,not how to connect the rca cables, but the settings within the oppo to playback my cd's, well my wifes cd's.

I am happy with my bluray playback but wouldn't, or my wife wouldn't want to have to go into the settings everytime we wished to change from bluray to music cd's, it seems rather complicated.
Question is, is there an easy way round this ?
or am I to buy a dedicated cd player ?

As long as you put a disc in the Oppo and the amp is set to the correct input that the Oppo is feeding then you'll get a sound as a cd player.

If its connected via hdmi, it may be worth running a set of rca from the stereo out just to see which sounds the best. If there is no difference then remove the rcas and play everything through the HDMI.

There is no need to tinker with any settings on the player - it recognises each type of disc instantly.
