5:1 input switch - does any such thing exist?

Hi, am loving my Pioneer 1019 receiver but it has only one set of 5:1 multi-channel inputs to which I have hooked up my Oppo 83 MR. I'm thinking of another multi-channel input into the Pio and wonder if there is such a thing as a 5:1 or 7:1 multi-channel input switch?

Cheers!

5.1 & 7.1 AUDIO SWITCHER

Found this but there, aren't many out there.

6 or 8 relays (depending on 5.1 or 7.1) , a switch, some RCA connectors, some wire, a box and a reasonable grasp of the basics of a soldering iron and you could make your own very cheaply!!

Re: 5:1 input switch - does any such thing exist?

Sorry, it is not clear what you want. What do you mean by "one set of 5:1 multi-channel inputs"? Do you mean a digital input? If so, what kind?

Exactly what is it you are trying to switch?

Can we assume you are using HDMI from the Oppo BluRay to the AV amp? If so, then can we also assume you need a HDMI fan out box similar to these -

HDMI, Component and DVI switches - Audiovisual Online - High Quality Audio Video Cables and Accessories

If not, then you need to tell us in a clear way using standard terminology, what it is you do want.

However, according to the specs for the Pioneer VSX1019, it has several digital inputs -

* 4 HDMI Inputs / 1 HDMI Output plus 2 Component Inputs / 1 Component Output
* 2 Coaxial Digital Inputs & 2 Coaxial Digital Inputs
* 1 USB host & 1 x iPod/iPhone Digital via USB

Again, based on what you've said, it is not clear what you are trying to do.

Hi Steve,

Thanks! Sorry, I should've made clear I meant 5:1 analogue inputs. I have the OPPO hooked direct to the TV for video via HDMI but the primary audio from the OPPO is via multi-channel analogue outs to the receiver. The receiver has one set of 5:1 analogue multi-channel inputs hence my wondering if I could hook up another component (e.g. a standalone SA-CD player) via 5:1 analogue through some kind of switch.

I have my Pio 320 and DV610 hooked to the receiver via HDMi for both audio and video and I do have two more free HDMI ports which are unused presently. Its just that the Sony standalone SA-CD player I'm looking at presently has only 5:1 analogue outs - no HDMI. It does have an optical output though.

'Multi Channel Input' is standard terminology for Pioneer Recievers for thier Analogue..................Multi Channel Inputs. See attached page from the 1019 instructions.

I fail to see how more clear the OP could have been.

He/She is after an analogue 5.1 or 7.1 switching box. If you had looked at the link you would have seen what i had found and offered some more helpfull suggestions.
