How do I get digital from my tv and cable

All. I have an ntl digital cable decoder with only a scart out that goes to my tv via scart lead. I have a dvd player that goes via scart to my tv but also has digital out which goes to my digital receiver which - simple. As ntl have been very skimpy with their outs, how can i get digital sound to my amp from my cable box? Currently all i have is phono leads from the back of the tv to the amp, which provides stereo only. Which is a shame as i have 6.1 digital amp and 6 speakers and a sub. Any ideas?

Can't be done I'm afraid. NTL would have to provide an SPDIF digital out on their box, which they don't. Even if they did it's highly unlikely that it would be anything more than just stereo PCM. Even Sky only gives you DD 5.1 on a handful of PPV movies (AFAIK).

no mate, if amp has DPL or DPL2 then connect the stereo outputs on the ntl box to an analogue in put will give you surround sound but not DD or DTS

Similar query with my NTL digibox. Looking to get plasma display (Pany 42pw6 or Hitachi PMA500E) and connect with my Pio NS DV99 home cinema set up.

How do I get sound from the digibox to the home cinema (only has scart out) ? Recall reading something about scart leads with break out audio, any idea where you can get these or a better solution?
