Question Panasonic SC-HT900

I just bought this system a couple of days ago, and I have noticed a problem with it when watching dvd's. I was watching saving private ryan, normal volume levels, then all of a sudden the sound went out. I couldn't get the sound back until I restarted the whole system. This has happened with a couple of different dvd's I got for christmas as well. I know there is a feature that shuts the sound off so you don't hurt the speakers, but this is ridiculous. Do I have a bad system or is it something I'm doing wrong. Thanks
