Where can I get some big mirrors for my gym?

I've been getting equipment over the years for my gym in the garage - running machine arriving next week to go with a rowing machine, bike, two multi gyms, bench and free weights. The whole family use it, so am getting good value for money there. Thought I'd make it look nicer, rather than a garage full of stuff and want some full length mirrors.

Anyone know where I can get some that are not exorbitantly expensive? Just plain, ideally drilled at the corners - not fancy at all. I guess even mirrored wardrobe doors would do, but they seem pricy...

Thanks,
Rich.

Try somewhere that sells glass, they should be able to help, after all a mirror is mostly made of glass.

Just seen this on the b&q site - £72 each though, and would need 4... don't think I'll get away with that!

I'll check some glaziers...

Hi Shahedz - not bad mate

Nope - Wakefield, so a few hundred miles away! What kind of shop? I'm sure they'll have similar ones even up here!

you really need to go to a glazier, they will make a mirror to any size, it needs to be drilled for mounting. for your use they will have to be 6mm a lot thicker than the sort you see in B & Q and have a safety backing its like a self adhesive layer that holds the pieces together if broken it will be very heavy!

Rich

Why not go for mirrored wardrobes, the storage space within would always be useful, got to be IKEA, they do shallow cabinets if space/depth is an issue.

There is one mirrored door in my garage you can have if you want it! Just down the road in Doncaster.

Or you could stop being a pozing git!!

I have the full works in my garage also, not a mirror in sight! My gym is a place of sweat and pain, dont want it to look like a 'Fitness First' (although there is a distinct lack of fit birds in my gym..........)

Yep - think you're right - will get a quote and see if it's going to be possible financially - might have to stretch some tinfoil and give it a polish!

It's not for posing, it's for checking correct form

I've got the missus in the gym as well, so that's all I need to look at....

(It's ok, she was just looking over my shoulder )

Re: Where can I get some big mirrors for my gym?

You could try smaller mirror squares that you buy in packets of 12 or so and add as many as you need, but you'll get some little lines inbetween the 'checking of the form'.

Re: Where can I get some big mirrors for my gym?

why not head down to the local tip (this BH monday) and look for people throwing out wardrobes with mirrors on them.

also make sure you get a mirror thats wide enough for your head

Re: Where can I get some big mirrors for my gym?

The safety glass is a good tip

(Commercial) gyms always have broken mirrors. Idiots posing when apparently they cannot hold on. My gym has given up and put an events notice board up instead in one corner

Just been down today to get rid of some old computers (the missus stopped believing that they'd come in useful for spares as they've been sat around for a couple of years ), but there were no mirrors to be seen. Will check on the BH as well....

I can't help it if I make the men's olympic gymnasts look like pee-wee herman!

I did think of that, but as you say, the lines will look odd.

Look into (as it were) acrylic mirrors.

They're a lot lighter, a little cheaper, and safer...
