Just back from a nice 32 mile ride on t'bike. More than 2,200ft elevation! It's all good though, I get bored when it's flat, need the hills to make it a proper workout.

What is the difference between olympic and standard plates except the price and the hole size? I see gyms all use olympic plates and bars etc

Had a tough run yesterday, you know it isn't going to be fun when you're feeling knackered after 500m. Forced myself around 8.5km any way.

Still beavering away on my BFFM Summer Challenge here. Logging that daily on the site and its going well so far. Dropped 3 pounds first 2 weeks with only a tiny loss of lbm (according to my calipers)

Daily logging is helping me keep focused as well

Any of you guys still buying peanut butter from MP? The last batch I've got here now is more like a thick paste with some peanuts in it, not crunchy peanuts like it used to be. Not going to be ordering any more from them.

That's not good, haven't had any for a while but looking to bulk up a little so ordered some to arrive today

Might be worth posting some feedback for it on their website, on the PB page. If mine is the same I will. Then they might do something about it

Will let you know, you may just have a bad batch

I'm still on my first batch, but it is as you describe. Very hard to spread.

I prefer smooth, only ordered crunchy by accident.

Which reminds me, my local Asda had massive 500g bags of almonds on offer for £4. Not sure if that would be everywhere, but it looked like a decent price.

I edited my post, because my local Asda is in the middle of a big asian area, so some of their deals may be store specific. Worth a look, as £8 for 1kg would be decent.

Im a regular Peanut Butter MP eater (crunchy) and i've not noticed any differences in having it over the last few months...

If its been sat for a while it'll go pretty hard but nothing a good stir won't fix...

In relaion to the proposed distance challenge, i had some time at the gym today, so did some benchmarking on distances covered on various equiptment. I did 10 minutes on each at 'easy pace' which is heart rate no higher than 120bpm. Results were as follows:

Cross trainer - 0.6km
Rower - 2.2km
Static bike - 6.5km
Running - 1.9km

I'll do swimming when i'm next at the pool. And i can easily do cycling off strava. Obviously, these aren't perfect. A good cyclist who lived in a flat part of the country could cover twice the distance i could in the same time. Maybe there is a way to factor that in. It's only a bit of fun any way

if you've got a car - check out the likes of ebay etc - do a search for ones local to your postcode that are pick up only...may grab a bargain...

assuming you're happy with 2nd hand...

I've been eating this stuff for a long time and it's definitely changed. The crunchy used to have much larger peanut chunks but it's nowhere near as nice now. I'm going to buy some of the Meridian branded stuff from the local health food shop or H&B and see if that has changed or is still the same.

Thanks for the advise- so does it really matter if it is a cheaper one?

I agree. Tried my new one today and it's more butter and less crunch. Still tastes ok to me though so I'm happy enough

Hmmm, I'll be ordering some more soon so I'll have to check a different batch out to see if there's any noticeable difference in the ones I've had!

well, depends on your budget too... but in theory you should be able to get a fairly decent 2nd hand one, but don't skimp on quality tho...
I'm not an expert on the relevant brands etc, but if you see one, you could possibly google it to see the real RRP price and perhaps some reviews... and even if you see a specific one you could post a link on here and I'm sure one of use can comment...

what is your budget tho?

Hopefully, no more than £100. I feel that's quite reasonable as I have the weights etc. but I could be wrong!

Have you tried the mother earth stuff? Meant to be all that natural crap. Tastes good though and like it hasn't been messed with. Poundland are currently doing 350g tubs for 1 pound. Really good price. Thats 3pounds for 1kg

If its the stuff I'm thinking of, it tastes like it's full of salt compared to the Meridian/MP stuff

Aye, that's the stuff. It's nice enough but I can taste the salt far too much after my normal stuff.

Almond is really nice but it's expensive in comparison.

Almond butter is goood, but it doesn't go as well with other stuff as peanut butter. So nicer on its own, but not as good with banana or whatever else.

if you're just looking for a bench, and not any stands for a bar, i just picked up this one from amazon
York Fitness Bench: Amazon.co.uk: Sports & Outdoors

although i got it for 20 quid less, it appears to have gone up in price since i bought it. other benches i looked at came with bar stands, which i didn't really need, but the benches were far weaker than this. i've go to put it together this evening, but i've opened it up and it's a really strong looking unit, looks like it would take some battering unlike the cheaper ones in arogs and the like
