Question Spec me IEM with the same or more SQ HD555/595

At the moment using CX300 for my ipod touch. Bought HD555 pair with my Xonar D2X for pc and really impressed with the SQ.

I'm looking replacement for my CX300 that have the same or more SQ that my HD555. Need something that clear but not too bright, warm, etc (like HD555 )

I was looking at UE SuperFi 3/4 Studio, V-Moda Vibe, Beyerdynamic DTX50 and Shure SE110. Really want Senheisser again but they're out of my range. I have budget max £65.

I'm listening to any music basically i.e dance, Avril, Killers, j-pop, c-pop, etc.

Could anybody help me with this please as i don't want to buy something expensive and turn out wrong.

Many thanks

I have the UE Super.Fi 3's and they don't have as much bass as my HD555's, they have great clarity with nice highs and mids but there isn't much of a bottom end to speak of.

Thanks.

After reading a few reviews my choice now down to UE Super.Fi 4 and V-Moda Vibe. Which one better?

Just read about Etymotic ER-6i, any good?

I read a review of the Klipsch Custom-1 over on Headfi.

The reviewer suggested the sound signature would suit Senn owners.

Can I throw in a dark horse here? Have a look at the Koss PortaPro which is well within even half budget for good sound on the move.

Koss PortaPro Headphones Headphone reviews - CNET Reviews

Koss PortaPro - High Quality Sound Stereophone: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

Don't be put off by the price! They've been making them since the early/mid 1980s so they've worked out how to keep costs down! And there's no way you'd make something for that long if it was rubbish.

Re: Spec me IEM with the same or more SQ HD555/595

Ah fair enough, yeah to be honest whilst the Koss's are designed for on the move they don't give you the sound isolation that you need. I'd either go for a pair of Denon C551 earbuds or Shure SE210s.

The Denon earbuds give a balanced neutral sound, neither adding bass or over sparkling the treble. If you want to hear it like they made it in the studio on a budget, these are the things to buy. Some people find their sound a bit too flat however, and the Shures offer a warmer sound. (I use Shures and Sennheisers on a regular basis and find their sound styles are fairly similar).

For more on the Shures check out here and the Denons here.
I personally like these two but many brands offer good buds in this price range, just be wary of build quality, something that online reviews tend to miss in their "one week tests". Many high quality buds have poor cables and thin connectors which are liable to wear out unless cared for extremely well. Amateur consumer reviews on reevoo and amazon are good for spotting this.

I'm totally confused what to get now

What IEM would you all get for max £70 budget that gives balance sound, clear and good soundstage?

Re: Spec me IEM with the same or more SQ HD555/595

Right, i've made my decision and will be getting it tonight.

I know HD555 it's really good paired with D2X and foobar 2000 but Klipsch Custom 2 probably the nearest i can get to match HD555 from user reviews as have good amount of bass, detail and good soundstage as well. also comes with planes adapter which i can use as well. It's better be comfy tho as i never experienced IEM with over the ear design.

Just wondering can i put this inside my pocket, just in case the wire snap (the one goes above ears)?

Thanks all for your suggestions

I still would like SA6 tho. Maybe next time

Re: Spec me IEM with the same or more SQ HD555/595

I would say the Klipsch Custom 2 is a good choice. Definitely more full bass response than the Custom 1, which is quite light on the bottom end.

The over the ear design works very well in my opinion. We recommend them to customers for running as they really stay put when active. It also prevents transmission noise (when clothing rubs the cable) travelling up the cable and into your ears.
