Portable Amos?

Hi

Other than the Graham Slee Voyager can anyone recommend any other portable headphone amps?

I've just got a pair of Beyer Dynamic DT880 Pro headphones and whilst they sound superb using my World Audio WD83 amp theres nothing to them with my ipod.
So looking for a portable amp for when traveling on trains etc.

Re: Portable Amos?

I've had an iBasso D3 and currently have a Meier Audio 3Move. I prefer the 3Move.

I would also recommend a line-out cable for the iPod.

How much do you want to spend?

Steven.

Re: Portable Amos?

Ideally around the £50 but could probably up it a bit if pushed.
Had enough trouble convicing the mrs i needed a special amp for the headphones In the first place without having to try and explain why I now need another one that’s portable.

Will have a look at the ones you linked to. The DT880’s seems quite tricky to drive would that rule out any of the above?
I recall reading about some where the guy made then and used old school mint tins as casing that were quite cheap and highly thought of.

Re: Portable Amos?

Not necessarily. My RSA Tomahawk (overtaken by Pico and RSA Mustang+Predator in flavour of the month status) goes loud and 1 o'clock is fine for my HD600, but I can pair it back to 9 o'clock by switching to high gain

Bear in mind you will want to purchase a line out dock for your iPod to get the full benefits of a portable amp

It's called a CMoy. Take a look at google for cmoy amp.

If you're any good with a soldering iron you can build you own.
