Sheared tube Shure SE530 Earphones

Disaster. Day 4 owning brand new pair. Swapping earbud to get better seal - the compressible foam ones. One very stiff, no problems with any before. Begins to move > tube sheared off. Oh no, no. Have I got a case that really ought to be engineered so that oughtn't to have become so stuck. Really don't think I was heavy handed. Brand new, so no weakness induced by repeated use. Grateful for advice before contacting seller, a reseller via Amazon. Sadly, paide by gift vouchers, so no credit card protection.

Quick follow up. Returned to Hand Heald Audio Radio Microphones and In-Ear Monitors and Earphones (An Amazon reseller)
They they made quick phone call to Shure, second pair sent out with no problem. Understand they had had another returned though other one had an irremovable ear bud.

New pair now working, much trepidation removing the buds that came with them. But now, mmm, sound is so good.

Darn... so some pairs are defective without being able to remove the buds?

I have a pair of e2cs and they pop off just fine. My SE530s arrived today and I'm pretty sure I'm going to break the buds if I put any more pressure on them to get the factory supplied buds off!

This is something others have reported over on headfi.org, don't know much about it myself but if you use the search function on the above site people have tried different things to overcome the problem, and Shure's customer service seem very good if called upon.

Re: Sheared tube Shure SE530 Earphones

I'm heading to Asia on Monday and I won't have time to call upon them if I need to The buds on there don't fit my ears so I couldn't bring the pair even I was worried about not breaking them.

I was able to get them off... used my nails to peel back the foam and push the plastic ring on the foam bud slowly but surely away from the base. It's very difficult and I can see many buds getting broken. It's a completely different feel than the e2cs which seem to come off easily though never slipped off inadvertantly.

Small buds on now, fit great and man - worth every penny!

Thanks guys,

Rob
