asap help please!...connecting headphone amp

hi all,
many moons ago i had a headphone amp connected to my denon 2803 via the tape out and everything was hunky dory...just had to swap the cd analogues over with the ones coming from my denons tape out,turn my headphone amp on and dvds came through ok.

....now i've tried connecting it all back up again and i'm not getting anything from the headphone amp regarding dvd playback.

i've a pair of analogues from the tape out to the headphone amp....and a pair of analogues from the dvd player to the dvd analogues...as wel as a digital connection from the player to the reciever (as i understand it a digital signal going in wont give a signal out via analogues to the headphone amp....if you get what i mean)
before i did'nt have to change any settings in the dvd players menu to get it to work......
i've currently everything pulled out in disarray and would like to get the cable connected right to start with before i put it all back before i pick the missus up in half an hour........

any help regarding the cable connections would be greatly appreciated......any menu settings i'll have to mess about with later if needs be .

....i also tried connecting the headphone amp directly to my stereo amps 'tape out' (as it drives my fronts via my denons pre outs)....did'nt work?
....would have thought it the denons set to 'stereo' then all the sound would be directed to my fronts......meaning the headphone amp should work fine via the stereo amps 'tape out'.....this would be the easiest connection in my eyes but it does'nt seem to be working?

....anyone any ideas?
