in ear headphone suitable for Iphon

Good afternoon,

Im looking at buying some new headphones for my iphone, but would like a set that incorporate the microphone too, so when i get calls i havent got to mess about with unconnecting etc etc.

Are there any decent headphones around that anybody can recommend.

Thanks

Re: in ear headphone suitable for Iphon

The new Apple Dual driver in-ear with remote. Previously used Shure 530's (£200+) with the Shure iPhone adapter but after trying these I sold the Shures as these are good enough.

Not quite as good as the Shures but only true audiophiles would notice the differences to be honest.

In ear headphones for iPhone

psikey: I'm very surprised you didn't notice the difference between a pair of Shure SE530 earphones and the new Apple Dual Driver earphones!

My wife is by no means an audiophile and she can tell the difference between a good pair of £50 earphones (like the Shure SE110) and any of the better high end earphones (Klipsch Image X10, Sleek Audio SA6, Ultimate Ears Triple.fi 10, Shure SE530).

What bitrate are your music files? What is the audio source? Were you getting a good seal with the eartips?

I can tell the difference, its just not a £150+ difference. Not exactly "night n day" like some audiophiles would have you believe.

For £54 with in-built iPod controls their a decent buy. The Shure SE530 with Shure iPhone adapter cost me around £240 in total and I can't say I have a 4x improvement in sound quality. Could be just me , but quiet a few regulars on head-fi have also stated the new Apples are decent.

PS, I have used a set of Shure SE110 and thought they were lacking in bass while the Apples have good bass.

That's really interesting. I would personally rate the Shure SE110 as having plenty of bass!!! (assuming a good in-ear seal)

It constantly amazes me how subjective headphone and earphone listening is. The shape of the ear (and in-ear fit) seems to have huge effects on perceived sound to the listener.

Some earphones seem particularly sensitive to fit in the ear. For example I passed the new Sennheiser IE6 round the office to try and the reported sound varied massively. I personally initially found the bass really lacking with the IE6. Then I tried the double flange ear tips and Comply Foam ear tips and they transformed the sound completely.

The first in-ear phones I tried were Sony EX71's & I never had a good listening experience with them which put me off in-ears for ages.

Then got a Walkman phone with in-ears and the sound was really good for the price so after being woowed by reviews on head-fi and elsewhere, I went straight for the Shure SE530's and was mightily impressed. The thing is now, after dabbling in high-end I can honestly say I'm perfectly happy with the Apple in-ears & wouldn't spend£200+ on earphones again.
