Dac dac baby do do do do do do do

Sorry about the Vanilla Ice pun but I had it on in the background and it is a bit catchy.

Just before Christmas I bought myself a pair of HD650s
Just after Christmas I bought myself a Graham Slee Solo Amp (no power upgrade)

I am now wondering whether it is worth buying a DAC. In a few weeks I'll be buying a new Macbook Pro, the majority of my music that will be listened to will be from CD through the laptop.

I'm thinking a USB DAC could be a good idea. I'd like to spend £150 about put if something was REALLY worth it i could stretch a bit more.

I love my set up at the moment, but from what I've read a good DAC goes a long way

Thanks for reading

Hi,

Yes, buying a DAC is a really good idea when listening to music from a computer.

Have you looked around at any particular models?

Steven.

The new Beresford will have USB not sure on price though.

Alot say that the CA DACMagic is worth it for £200 (even against DACs at higher prices.)

If you hadn't already bought the Solo I would have recommended a DAC/AMP combo like the Meier Audio Cantate or Symphony. See: http://www.meier-audio.homepage.t-online.de

Re: Dac dac baby do do do do do do do

Hi guys,
thanks for the response. I have already bought the Solo.
I'm not too fussed about what make it is.
I was looking at the Fubar II Dac, it goes for £125. Arcam Boy, on here says it is a good DAC. He also has the Solo and HD650s.
Other than that I really have no idea what so ever.

Any ideas would be great and I'll go research them. The CA DacMagic is a little too far out of my price range. I'm buying a new laptop next week too so I need to save a few pennies for that.

Thanks

May I also put forward something different.

Have a modified emu-0404 soundcard with a custom cable to my headphone amp and it is truly an awesome card.
