Best Full Size Headphones For £40-50

Hi, rather than just pick some headphones up straight from the shop, I though you guys may offer some advice.
I'll be mainly listening to rock music and would like some half decent phones to replace some old Technics ones I got years ago for about £20
I'll be connecting them mainly to a mid range separates HI-FI system and also to the pc sometimes. I wasn't planning on getting a headphone amp, does this matter?

I just bought a set of Creative Aurvana Lives to replace my Technics RP-F350s.

I'm in a similar position. Currently using some Sennheiser PX100s (cost £20) and I'm looking for a set of full size (preferably on ear as opposed to over ear) headphones that would be a step up from these. Don't want to spend more than £50 and, as I'd be spending twice as much as I did for the Senns, I would hope to hear a significant improvement in sound quality (not sure if that's possible for the budget, the Senns are bloody good). It'll mostly be used for gaming (PS3) but I might use them for TV, movies and music too if they're suitable. The most convenient way to connect would be a standard headphone jack, the optical port on the PS3 seems like an expensive way to go.

Got my dad a set of audio technica ad-ath300's for xmas,was so impressed i got myself a pair of ad-ath700's and both are great sounding headphones very comfortable, if rather large.

I know they only cost £15-20, but I've found the Sennheiser HD201s to be absolute brilliant headphones. I've seen people claim that they're the best full-sized headphones you can get under fifty quid, too...

Perhaps it's worth seeing if you can try a few pairs out somewhere? HMV often have a small selection of full-sized headphones available to try instore, but they don't exactly provide ideal listening conditions...

Would you go for the 201 or 202?

I've heard in many places that the HD201s are superior to the HD202s, even though the 202s cost more.

Never used them or read much, I'm afraid. See if you can try them out somewhere if you really want to make the right choice.
